Cayman Getaway

After our fun in Houston for Easter, we headed further east and spent a week on the island of Grand Cayman.  To avoid any crowds, we stayed on the quiet east end of the island at The Reef.  It was great.  Natalie got the chance to have fun in pools and a relatively calm ocean and we all got tans.

To kick things off, here is the view sort-of-west from our room on the second floor of the resort...

We spent at least some part of every day on the beach in front of the resort.  Here's a few pictures...
The view west at the beach.

At noon each day, there was a fish feeding at the pier.
Getting some sun.
One day, we drove to the Botanical gardens in search of flowers and dinosaurs!

Resting

A dinosaur!! (according to Natalie).  It's actually a blue iguana.
An evening stroll along some beach on the east end of the island just a bit south of where we stayed.  We spent a lot of time here throwing things (shells, coral, rocks) into the ocean.

We had an excellent dinner at Tukka one night.  We were seated on the beach - about 5 feet from the water.  It was a great meal and someone really enjoyed it - or at least finally smiled for the camera.

We stopped at the Cayman Islands Brewery on Saturday.  While Daddy was inside sampling the beer, the youngest photographer in the group was out taking pictures.

Also on Saturday we visited a local market and picked up some fresh fruits and veggies.  Then we walked around the area a bit.  It was a nice stroll.
Lunch at Chesters - free Jerks!

Excellent can of fruit juice at Chester's.
For lunch on Monday, we headed into the main town (George Town) to a fancy restuarant called Brasserie.  The meal was excellent and so was Natalie.  We all cheered to our good trip!

After the fancy lunch we headed north to the Turtle farm.  We all got to pet some cute little turtles.
One of Natalie's favorite things to do is cover her self in either stickers or tattoos.  Other photos here show her tattoos, but here was the result of a fun morning of sticker application...

Here favorite beach was at Rum Point.  The calm waters allowed her to just walk right in and she spent lots of time playing in the sand at the water's edge.

On the final evening on the island, we finally found the starfish beach near Rum Point, but there were no starfish.  I settled for taking pictures of the other wildlife.
