At 21:21 PST on November 20th, 2013, Clara Elise McDermott Stobb joined us in a hurried fashion in our hospital room in San Francisco.
She weighed in at a healthy 6 lb 9 oz and 19 inches long. She's got all her fingers and toes, a full head of dark hair with blond roots, and a cute nose.
Unlike her big sister who took days of coaxing to come out, Clara squirted right out about 10 minutes after the epidural was applied. The delivery doctor didn't have time to get on his gloves and the pediatric team which had been called to handle some meconium in the birth fluid didn't even make it into the room in time. It was bit crazy.
Mommy gets a gold star for going through the birth with a not fully effective epidural. This birth produced a bit more screaming than the first one.
Now for a breakdown of the name:
Clara - We both like this name and it just sounds right. (I do have to point out that this coming Saturday is the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, and a recent companion of the Doctor goes by the name of Clara. This is pure coincidence, though an excellent one since Clara's daddy is a bit of a Doctor Who fan.)
Elise - French version of Elizabeth, which is Sarah's (Ginny's sister) middle name as well as Ginny's grandmother's middle name.
McDermott - Ginny's mother's maiden name and in honor of Ginny's Uncle Buddy who shares Clara's birthday.
Stobb - her daddy's last name.
Now some photos...
She is a beauty!! And I love all her names, for all the reasons!! Can't wait to meet her in December!! I am still anxious to hear how big sister is doing and reacting!! Hugs from Dripping Springs!
